Playmaker: Tre Riley
By John Evered: Playmaker Recruiting Analyst
Overview
Tre Riley is a lengthy defensive back and multi-sport athlete out of Austin, Texas, playing Pg/Sg on LBJ’s state semifinal basketball run. His game tape is interesting. Riley is advanced in man-to-man coverage and reads quick wideouts well. He has a high starting position when playing cornerback and pops up out of his stance quickly when the ball is snapped. One thing I noticed immediately about Tre was his high ability to tolerate contact. He’s as smooth as they come for defensive backs when making tackles with proper form on the lower body and uses his length to wrap his arms around offensive players and lean in with his shoulder to avoid a penalty. Tre also plays some on both sides of the ball, including some at QB. He has emerged as a leader and has more room to grow physically and add to his presence as a safety, or multipurpose DB.

Doesn’t have jarring stand out speed for his height and weight but can make up for it using angled approaches and physical contact.
Pops out of his starting point quickly when playing man coverage
